Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere (1.15pm) Preview
The Group One for two-year-old colts features leading French prospects versus a notable contender from the O’Brien stable. Undefeated Rayif and Nighttime compete against the Irish-trained Puerto Rico. Rayif won a Group Three event on his last start, whereas Nighttime, holding three wins from four, also is a Group Three winner, having secured the La Rochette at the course and distance in early September. The O’Brien contender proved busier than his rivals , got off the mark recently in his most recent appearance, winning the Group Two Champagne Stakes. Although an outsider for an O’Brien entrant and among the market leaders underperformed, he stands as a reliable second-favourite among oddsmakers. A Bit Of Spirit (Solario Stakes winner), which won the Solario Stakes following a four-way result, also warrants his place in the field, as does the Appleby-trained Time To Turn, a Listed winner at Ascot back in July.
PICK: RAYIF

Prix Marcel Boussac Preview
Preview for the Prix Marcel Boussac
Following a period starting in 2018 when the winner of this race failed to register a subsequent win, France’s premier contest for young fillies has regained some strength recently featuring Blue Rose Cen (2022) and Opera Singer (2023) the pair achieving Group One wins as three-year-olds and Zarigana, which just missed by a 100-1 stable companion a year after being an odds-on favourite, took the French 1,000 Guineas during the spring. Green Spirit, with a clean slate from four races featuring the Prix D’Aumale at this track last time out, heads the French contenders this afternoon and ranks first in the Timeform ratings. However the O’Brien-trained Diamond Necklace (unbeaten) is also undefeated – following two runs – and should give her a tough challenge. She claimed a black-type race during Champions Weekend this autumn and success for this offspring of St Mark’s Basilica would also be a big moment for the stallion. Combined, the leading pair in the market represent around 70% of the pool, though we have additional contenders that merit some consideration. The unbeaten Ozone remains with two wins, even if on lesser courses, last time out taking a Listed race in Lyon. Additionally, from Karl Burke Aylin (May Hill winner) claimed the May Hill on the Doncaster course last time and her stable could not be more in form.
PICK: DIAMOND NECKLACE
