British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Tragic Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Healing from Light Wounds
The boxer had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.
Remembering the Victims
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
The news of his discharge comes as the sports world offered its support for the fighter in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
