David Walliams dropped by publishing house.

David Walliams

Prolific writer for children and TV personality David Walliams has been dropped by his UK book publisher, according to an announcement.

An official for the firm commented: "Following a thorough review, and under the leadership of its new CEO, HarperCollins UK will not be releasing future works by David Walliams."

Media sources suggest that the decision was made after an review of reports of conduct deemed unsuitable directed at young women.

The company has not elaborated on the specific rationale behind the move, adding: "It is not our policy to discuss internal matters."

A Highly Successful Publishing History

Walliams ranks among Britain's most successful children's authors, with sales exceeding in excess of 60 million copies internationally in 55 languages.

The debut children's novel from Walliams, *The Boy in the Dress*, was published by HarperCollins back in 2008.

Some of his books, such as *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have also been adapted into small-screen adaptations.

He has published over four dozen titles altogether, encompassing a holiday title named *Santa & Son*, which was released through HarperCollins last autumn.

A Dual Career

His career breakthrough occurred on the TV sketch series *Little Britain* and has also won National Television Awards for his role as a panelist on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was awarded an OBE several years ago for his services to charity and the arts.

This development follows the appointment of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's recent CEO last fall.
