Tributes Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones persist in remembering the couple.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt prepared to post publicly about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has elapsed that I can now articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner left him smitten. "As we began sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor shared behind-the-scenes footage from the film, remarking that he could not remember "any day without joy".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, stating: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He ended with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with the cast, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Withheld
Recently, a Los Angeles judge ruled to prevent the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the local authorities.
A legal directive issued a embargo on the cases to restrict the public release of "related notes, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the probe.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of murder, with a official listing listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Fallout and Commentary
Following the deaths, public figures expressed divergent responses.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering provocative claims that were broadly criticized by numerous public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the detractors last week. Speaking on his program, Rogan described the statements as "shocking" and remarked they showed a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by suggesting that an associate should have intervened when the impulse to weigh in on the passing was made.
