US Online Personality Penalized Following Mass E-Bike Ride on Iconic Australian Bridge

NSW authorities have issued a fine against an American social media personality and served two driving violation citations for alleged reckless operation following a large group of electric bicycle users gathered on the Sydney Harbour Bridge during the busy commute on a weekday.

The Incident: An Illegal Gathering

A gathering of approximately 40 people operating e-bikes and motorcycles travelled along the primary roadway of the bridge, where cycling is prohibited. The riders then turned around and rode through the downtown area and a nearby district.

"There was a risk of serious injury or fatalities," stated a senior police official the officer on Wednesday.

Police indicated they did not chase right away the group out of safety concerns but rather found the group at a scenic Sydney lookout near the city gardens, where they dispersed.

Fines Imposed for Influencer

On Saturday, police stated they had served the US social media influencer known as the influencer, 26, with two traffic infringement notices for careless operation (not involving death or prior injury), carrying a fine of $562 and three demerit points per notice, connected to the bridge incident. Officials noted that inquiries were continuing.

The influencer reportedly has over 3.4 million followers on YouTube and more than 1.2 million on Instagram.

Creator's Response

The content creator spoke with a local publication recently following the event spread rapidly on digital platforms, saying he regretted giving "the biking community" a bad reputation.

"I accept the blame. It was among the safest gatherings I have witnessed," he said. "I’m coming here as a guest, so I’m going to abide by the laws and norms of Sydney. When I decided to do a public meeting it did not involve a group ride, it was just to say hi under the bridge."

"I’m unfamiliar with the city, I am to blame we ended up on the bridge and I had a decision to make: whether the group completes the entirety of the bridge and comes back, which is a crime. Or we turn around, basically, before we’re on the bridge. And I made the decision at the time to go back."

National Debate on Electric Bike Rules

The spate of electric bicycles on roads nationwide has sparked growing calls for stricter rules. The federal health minister, Mark Butler, recently said that illegal ebikes were a "total menace on the road."

"Young people have engaged in reckless acts on bikes ever since the early bicycle [but] the harm that are coming into our ERs are truly severe," the minister said. "We must make sure we prevent these things coming into the country [and] officers are granted the authority to crack down, to take them away, to destroy them, to destroy them."

The state recorded 226 injuries associated with ebikes in the previous year. However, in the first seven months of 2025, that figure surged to 233 injuries plus four fatalities.
